Here at one of the Internet’s most reputable UK farmer dating sites, KissingGates.com, we were impressed by recent news that a Lancashire sheep farmer ingeniously caught out thieves who had raided his farm before advertising his stolen items on eBay. The achievement of the farmer, Craig Parkinson, led his friends to dub him “Miss Marple” – and, here at one of the UK’s leading farmer dating sites, we can’t help but salute him for his foiling of these thieves.

Mr Parkinson, 48, discovered that about £4,000 of machinery and stock had been stolen overnight from one of the outbuildings at his farm on Johnsons Meanygate, Tarleton, near Preston. He reported this discovery to police, but then decided to look for his items on eBay following a suggestion from his daughter. On the online auction website, Mr Parkinson found a distinctive Ryobi pressure washer for sale 10 miles away and, in other pictures being used to advertise items through the website, boxes of his stolen items in the background.

Mr Parkinson recently revealed that his family emailed the person advertising the items “pretending to be a customer to get his address, and did a drive by to get the registration number, then we passed the information to the police”. Officers later raided two Southport addresses and found items stolen from more than a dozen farms worth about £15,000. One of the UK’s leading farmer dating sites is glad that justice has been done.
